Take Flight #5
October 30, 2008 11:11 AMOn the job since September 8, Rachel Maddow is America's newest cable news anchor and has already established herself as a force to be reckoned with. A former radio personality and political analyst for CNN and MSNBC, Maddow was given her own prime-time program on MSNBC after the network saw surges in viewership of their top program, Countdown, during the nights on which she substituted for regular host Keith Olbermann.
Her fresh style and emphasis on interactivity, using tools like Twitter, helped her quickly gain traction with the key 25-54 demographic.

But Maddow's dominance on the cable news scene has extended beyond traditional TV. For much of October, The Rachel Maddow Show has been the top podcast in the iTunes podcast directory.
Congratulations to Rachel and her crew and the team at MSNBC.com! This is a real achievement (especially for such a new program) and we are delighted to have you as a content partner.

History Promotes 'Underworld' in VoloMedia Podcasts
October 29, 2008 2:38 PMHi everyone. We have some truly exciting news to share with you. On October 23rd, we rolled out a campaign to promote History's "Cities of the Underworld" series in advance of its 3rd season premiere on October 26th. The campaign will be dynamically inserted into podcasts in VoloMedia's News & Information vertical.
Just in case you haven't seen or heard about it, "Cities of the Underworld" is hosted by Don Wildman and it features his travels around the world exploring the unknown and fascinating histories of what remains below the cities he visits. This year's episodes will showcase Wildman going deep underground to examine ancient cisterns, dank dungeons, clandestine hideouts and shipwrecks that have been lost for hundreds of years. Some of the places that Don has visited in the past have been pretty amazing and I am so looking forward to this year's series.
If you are into history, mysteries and unusual discoveries, this is the show for you! You can check out the trailers for the show in many of the podcasts in our News & Info vertical ( MSNBC, Fox News, Newsweek, Washington Post, Slate etc.).

The New VoloMedia iTunes Plug-in is Live!
October 27, 2008 4:16 PMHere's an update from the VoloMedia Products department. We're happy to announce that we've released the latest version of our iTunes plug-in. If you're an avid podcast consumer like me, you might have noticed that if you like a particular video, there's really no good way you can tell your friends about it. We've solved that by adding the capability for you to share your favorite podcast videos with friends via e-mail or add it to your favorite social bookmarking service. With the plug-in installed, just hit pause while watching a podcast video and you'll see our buttons show up. What about if you wanted to know more about the video you just saw? Now publishers can also add related links to a video which will also show up when you hit pause. No more going back to the publisher's web site to try and search for more information.
Want to see it in action? Check out our publisher's video and podcast pages. For example, go to Fox News' podcast page and click to subscribe to any of their podcasts. You'll be prompted to install the plug-in, which will then automatically add your chosen podcast to iTunes. You can also go to www.VoloCast.com and get it from there.
The plug-in is currently Windows-only. Mac users can expect a version before the end of the year.
Enjoy!

Take Flight #4
October 10, 2008 4:10 PMPersonal Life Media joined the VoloMedia (then Podbridge) family of publishers in spring of 2007. When we first met PLM, founded by husband-and-wife power duo, Susan and Tim Bratton, they had assembled an impressive lineup of fifteen podcasts, all aimed at enhancing listeners' personal lives. Since then, PLM has expanded its network to 27 programs, covering topics from love and intimacy to finance to living green to music: a full-fledged media empire.
A few recent additions to the PLM family:
Life Zero Featuring John Flowers, Ben Durbin and Laraley, Life Zero discusses practical ways to embrace a zen-like lifestyle while living a modern life.
Money, Mission & Meaning Each week, host Mark Michael Lewis interviews a business leader and discusses how to best balance personal and professional commitments and "create synergy between purpose and profitability."
Music for Midnight Inspired by his travels throughout Europe, Austin Beeman delivers a weekly sampling of ambient music perfect for setting a relaxing late night mood.
UPDATE: As of 10/13, Music for Midnight is the #5 music podcast in the iTunes store. Congrats, Austin and PLM!
Subscribe to these and and browse the rest of the ever-expanding selection at personallifemedia.com or in iTunes.

October 1, 2008 11:03 AMHappy 1st of October everyone! Many fun and exciting events happen in October like Oktoberfest, Halloween and, of course, Digital Music Forum West where Jeff, our VP of Marketing is a panelist. Jeff is going to be participating in the "Beyond the Download: Rethinking Digital with Alternative Business Models" panel tomorrow in LA. We think that the discussion is going to be quite lively and interesting given everything that is happening in the music world from declining CD sales to DRM issues to royalties. A lot of the industry folks will be there, so if you are around, please check us out at the show. Thanks!
